What electricity tariff do data centres pay in Malaysia?
On the ultra-high-voltage band, the tariff since 1 July 2025 is 51.18 sen/kWh peak and 47.09 sen/kWh off-peak, before fuel surcharge. An analyst projects about 66.6 sen/kWh effective if a 7.59 sen surcharge applies from January 2027; that is a projection, not the current rate. The minister has also said operators will have to pay for their full contracted capacity, with no date or rate given.
